Axis Communications announces the next generation of AXIS M42 Dome Camera Series. These compact and discreet dome cameras offer flexible installation both indoors and outdoors.
AXIS M4225-LVE offers 2 MP resolution, while AXIS M4227-LVE and AXIS M4228-LVE deliver 4 MP and 8 MP respectively. With a varifocal lens, they offer a 104°-40° field of view for wide overviews or detailed, narrow views of the scene. Lightfinder and WDR ensure details even in challenging light conditions. Additionally, OptimizedIR allows for surveillance in total darkness.
Including a deep learning processing unit (DLPU), these AI-powered cameras make it possible to run powerful analytics on the edge. For instance, they come with AXIS Object Analytics preinstalled to detect and classify humans, vehicles, and types of vehicles. This DLPU also delivers valuable metadata facilitating fast, easy, and efficient forensic search capabilities in live or recorded video.

Compact and discreet, these cameras blend in with any environment. A smoked dome is available to disguise which way the camera is pointing. IP66- and IK10-rated, they have an operating temperature range from -20°C to 50°C (-4°F to 122°F). Furthermore, Axis Edge Vault, a hardware-based cybersecurity platform, safeguards the device and protects sensitive information from unauthorized access. And it offers FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certified, secure cryptographic key storage and operations.
The cameras are planned to be available through Axis distribution channels in Q2, 2025.
