The Globee® Awards has named Graham Construction, Accara IT Services, and Axis Communications, the Gold Winner in Cyber Security Global Excellence Awards® for its collaborative mass notification and theft deterrence project.
The Globee® Awards (formerly the Info Security PG Awards) consist of eleven award programs including the Cyber Security Global Excellence Awards® currently in its 17th year. In the category of “Best Deployments and Customer Success of the Year – Security Services,” a group of three companies: Axis Communications, Accara IT Services and Graham Construction; were honoured with a gold award for a mass notification and theft deterrence project in Canada.
Graham Construction retained Accara IT Services to build a security solution to detect and deter theft and provide for the safety of their workers at a construction site of a food processing plant. Accara brought in Axis Communications to provide key components for the solution.

The solution was designed to be modular and consists of 12 portable platforms cemented in strategic locations so that all critical areas of a construction site can be surveilled. Each platform holds a post on which the security and safety equipment is mounted. The equipment includes an emergency button, a network relay, a junction box, one network camera with pan, tilt, zoom (PTZ) functionality, and two network horn speakers mounted so they face in opposite directions for optimum audibility. The entire system is managed through AXIS Camera Station (ACS) video management software (VMS) and is powered by LED light towers at each platform.
Essentially, when the emergency button is pressed ACS is triggered, which then issues audible alerts through the speakers in order to reach every worker on-site. Additionally, the cameras provide targeted and 360-degree video which is transmitted wirelessly to the VMS in the construction office. The result? Effective remote monitoring, rapid mass notification, and zero incidence of theft since the system was installed.
Winners of the 2021 Globee® Awards will be honored at a virtual red-carpet ceremony on May 6, 2021.
