Axis Communications announces an all-in-one, radar-video fusion device designed for traffic monitoring. When combined with license plate recognition software, this powerful device can connect a vehicle’s speed to a license plate.
Easy to install, configure, and set up, AXIS Q1686-DLE Radar-Video Fusion Camera combines two powerful technologies in one device. It can reliably monitor vehicle speeds up to 200 km/h (125 mph), 24/7. When combined with license plate recognition software such as AXIS License Plate Verifier or third-party software, it connects a speed to a license plate to reliably identify a vehicle. This smart device can also detect wrong-way driving, even at high speeds. Using license plate recognition software, it can then accurately identify a license plate and pinpoint the offending vehicle. Multiple line-crossing scenario increases accuracy since the same object must cross two virtual lines to trigger an alarm, making the notifications more reliable. With a low false-notification rate, police can act upon alarms and quickly stop vehicles driving the wrong way.
This fusion device offers great zoom capabilities and delivers sharp, high-resolution video in detail, and images with the pixel density needed for license plate recognition. Thanks to a traffic-optimized IR illumination kit, it can capture license plate images in complete darkness up to 50 m (164 ft). Furthermore, the generated metadata can be gathered and visualized in a dashboard for valuable insights.
Based on an open platform, AXIS Q1686-DLE is compatible with various video management systems and platforms. It can also trigger other devices, for instance, a strobe light to warn and deter e.g., wrong-way drivers. Additionally, smart coexistence makes it possible to install up to eight devices close to each other.
