Axis Communications and Cross Camera Controls Build an End-to-End System that Delivers on Compliance and Security
During a year with tightly contested mid-term elections, everything from district maps and voter registration are under intense scrutiny. So, if you’re a company that produces election material like DS Graphics | Universal Wilde (DSG|UW) you need to prove your security of sensitive data adheres to strict SOC (Service Organization Controls) standards.
“On any given month we might send out tens of millions of pieces of mail,” says Chris Wells, Executive VP of Sales and Marketing for DS Graphics | Universal Wilde. “Whether it contains someone’s date of birth or plans for an upcoming product launch, our customers expect us to not only produce top-quality pieces, but also safeguard their sensitive data from unauthorized access and circulation.”
Upon consolidating two plants into a new 307,000 square foot facility in Canton, MA, DSG|UW called on the expertise of system integrator and Axis partner, Cross Camera Controls (CCC) to design a security system that would safeguard their operations and exceed the requirements of their customer audits. They wanted a comprehensive solution that would integrate video surveillance with access control and alarms. CCC installed an AXIS Camera Station video management system that governs more than two dozen high-resolution Axis panoramic and fixed dome cameras, Axis network video intercoms with encrypted RFID badge readers, Axis network door controllers, Axis network horn speakers and an interface with the company’s VoIP phone system.
“Marrying all these Axis systems together not only protects our physical plant and our personnel but also the sensitive documents we prepare for our clients. This seamless integration has been essential in helping us meet the rigorous SOC-compliance standards demanded by our customers.”
The system’s access control component was recently recognized as a winner for the 2022 Security Solutions Awards sponsored by Security Sales & Integration. The 8th annual awards program honors solutions that truly meet the needs of both the security integrator and their customer.
Thomas Lienhard, Managing Director for Cross Camera Controls describes the award-wining access control solution, “Employees swipe their badges at the access control reader to let themselves in. A receptionist screens visitors at the video intercom before remotely unlocking the entrance. By linking all the technology through AXIS Camera Station Secure Entry we give DSG|UW the ability to quickly detect and verify events as they're happening.”
DSG|UW can point to a number of wins that are a direct result of the end-to-end solution. Among them is the ability to protect the sensitive paper stock from environmental damage by leveraging door sensors to quickly alert for doors left ajar in climate-controlled areas of the building. It was also instrumental in helping the company conduct a virtual security audit for a customer during the pandemic.
