AXIS C15 Network Speaker Series Wins Red Dot Award for high design quality

Axis Communications has been successful in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2022. The international jury has awarded the AXIS C15 Network Speaker Series the distinction “Red Dot”, which stands for high design quality.

The AXIS C15 Network Speaker Series is designed for indoor public spaces, retail outlets, offices, and more. As part of a larger audio system, the AXIS C15 Series allows users to communicate seamlessly through audio. The speakers are perfect as a public address system and support live or prerecorded announcements for improved operational efficiency, to keep people safe, and to enable proactive security. The speakers can also provide ambient background music.

With its minimalistic and solid housing, it pends down in a single wire, bringing the speaker closer to the user and allowing it to draw more attention. The AXIS C15 Series shifts from an architectural to a more human expression, indicating that it´s an approachable and interactive device.

Jonas Sjögren, Industrial Design Manager at Axis Communications, commented: “Being recognised for our product design, particularly in such a prestigious scheme, is always pleasing and a great endorsement of our team’s work. The Axis C15 Network Speaker Series is a great example of where form and function in design need to come together seamlessly. Of course, the products need to deliver in terms of ease of use, sound quality for announcements and background music, and the ability to integrate with other network technologies. But also, given the environments where they are often used – including retail stores, malls, offices, hotels and leisure facilities – they need to tick boxes aesthetically. It’s nice that the judges felt they met the highest criteria in both areas.”

Axis will receive its Red Dot Award at an award ceremony taking at the Aalto-Theater, Essen Opera House, on 20 June 2022, with the winning products being displayed in the Red Dot Design Museum, Essen.

Evaluation platform for good design

The Red Dot Award: Product Design dates back as far as 1955 and recognises the best products for the given year. In 2022, 48 jurors from 23 countries were once again true to the motto “In search of good design and innovation” in the competition. The international panel of experts comprises specialists from a wide variety of sectors. The jurors scrutinised the products entered in the competition in a process that spanned several days and were guided by assessment criteria such as the product’s formal quality, ergonomics and longevity.

About the Red Dot Design Award

In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award breaks down into the three disciplines of Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. With more than 18,000 entries, the Red Dot Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. Ever since, the sought-after distinction “Red Dot” has been the revered international seal of outstanding design quality. The award winners are presented in the yearbooks, museums and online.
