In a city or urban area, public safety and quality of life is essential and can be improved through the deployment of surveillance cameras, network speakers as well as intercom solutions. But how can these technologies be efficiently integrated to provide effective monitoring, analysis, communication, and optimization of resources? Vicente López, a city of Buenos Aires, Argentina has been answering this question the past decade.
In this video, you will learn how the authorities of Vicente López improved the safety and wellbeing of its citizens by using a toolbox of technology provided by Axis.
Vicente López has integrated more than 1,800 Axis cameras covering 30 square kilometers, protecting the city’s public spaces as well as improving safety on public transport. Cameras are installed in police patrol cars and the city’s police wear Axis body worn cameras. Vicente López’s citizens can also receive immediate attention through a network of over 80 safety poles with intercoms.
Data from all these devices is sent to a central command center where information is quickly processed, enabling a rapid response by the city’s security services. Using AI and analytics, command center operators can make quick, informed decisions. Crucially, it also means that the city has been able to efficiently increase its surveillance coverage without adding operators.
Vicente López has also implemented a public address system with announcements made through Axis network speakers, enabling communication of safety guidelines such as social distancing, as well as contacting citizens in real-time if a dangerous situation arises.
Watch the video to find out how Vicente López has become not only a safer city, but a smarter city too.
